Nazi Criminals Hunted Down after 1945
The director of the clinic, the Nazi doctor Dr. Illing, was convicted of multiple murder after the war, sentenced to death and executed.
In the inaugural speech made by Karl Renner's provisional government on 27. April 1945 it was announced that the country would confront its National Socialist past. A law passed in 1947 provided for the registration of former Nazis and their removal from positions in government and commerce, along with bans on them holding certain positions and provision for them to provide compensation
